To
nourish children and raise them against odds is in any time, any place, more valuable
than to fix bolts in cars or design nuclear weapons.
-- Marilyn French
Families
are about love overcoming emotional torture.

The
best inheritance a parent can give to his children is a few minutes of their time
each day."
-- M. Grundler
If we
are too busy, if we are carried away every day by our projects, our uncertainty,
our craving, how can we have the time to stop and look deeply into the situation-our
own situation, the situation of our beloved one, the situation of our family and
of our community, and the situation of our nation and of the other nations?
-- Thich Nhat Hanh |

Call it a clan,
call it a network, call it a tribe, call it a family. Whatever you call it, whoever
you are, you need one.
-- Jane Howard (1935-1996) US journalist, writer
No matter what you've done for yourself or for humanity, if you can't look back
on having given love and attention to your own family, what have you really accomplished?
-- Lee Iacocca

The happiest moments of
my life have been the few which I have passed at home in the bosom of my family.

The
happiness of the domestic fireside is the first boon of Heaven; and it is well
it is so, since it is that which is the lot of the mass of mankind.
~Thomas
Jefferson, 1813
The
family is the corner stone of our society. More than any other force it shapes
the attitude, the hopes, the ambitions, and the values of the child. And when
the family collapses it is the children that are usually damaged. When it happens
on a massive scale the community itself is crippled. So, unless we work to strengthen
the family, to create conditions under which most parents will stay together,
all the rest — schools, playgrounds, and public assitance, and private concern
— will never be enough.
-- Lyndon Johnson
