Day
CALIFORNIA
Join
the worldwide movement to create a Global Ceasefire and Day of Peace
& Nonviolence in our homes, our communities and between nations
on September 21, The International Day of Peace. Peace Day has been
a focal point for community-uniting and peace-inspiring events since
its inception in 1981.
This year will be the greatest Peace Day, yet. Together we can create
a more peaceful, just and sustainable world, one heart, one family,
one community at a time. Join the Countdown To Peace and help inspire
your community to celebrate humanity's first day of peace, ever.
YOU
CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

EVENT:
BENEFIT CONCERT, Santa Cruz Vet's Hall, 7:30pm
Benefit show for: Barrios Unidos and Guitars Not Guns
Performers: Universal Language, Dis Moi, Irony (of Guitars Not
Guns), & special guests.
This
is going to be an event to have the Santa Cruz community celebrate
the International Day of Peace. (We’re still waiting on the city
council to review the proclamation). The intention of the event
is to bring community members together in recognition and celebration
of this Day of Peace established by the UN in 2001 as a 24-hour
cease fire day. Popular local bands Universal Language, Dis Moi,
and a kids band Irony from Guitars Not Guns along with some aerial
dancers and West African Drummers will be performing. We are making
it a benefit show for two local organizations, Barrios Unidos
and Guitars Not Guns. Both groups work with youth to provide education
and alternatives to violence in our community. We are committed
sharing this day of non-violence with our friends, family and
community to make it the beginning of an annual event. The intention
is to make it a celebration of peace and not one of politics,
where all are welcome.
