About Interdependence Day

Interdependence Day, acknowledges and celebrates the truth that we are all connected, and that when one thread in the web of life is sundered, all are diminished. Everyone benefits when equity and mutual respect prevail. Interdependence Day is a day of celebration, information and action. This annual event was launched by We The World in 2002 at the at the Johannesburg World Summit on Sustainable Development to celebrate the interconnection and interdependence of all life on our planet.

Since 2002, Interdependence Day has grown into a major part of the 11 Days of Global Unity (September 11-21), a worldwide promotion of peace and sustainability. The Global Declaration of Interdependence, a document you can sign online, has also become an important unifying symbol of the global movement for a better world.
