Fredrik Bajer was one of the greatest peace advocates of Scandinavia in the late 19th century and was the first president of the International Peace Bureau. He envisioned and worked hard to establish a centrally organized international peace movement. The forming of the League of Nations was based on many of the ideas and principles that he and other peace pioneers promoted.
