Drew Blyth Barrymore is an American actress whose family has been in the acting business for nearly 200 years. She first appeared on screen at 5 and by 7 had become a star with her role in E.T. Now she is one of the highest paid actresses in Hollywood and in 2007 was ranked # 1 in People Magazine's annual 100 Most Beautiful People list. Offscreen, Drew Barrymore is actively involved in helping to make the world a better place. In 2005 she became a United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) celebrity partner and saw firsthand the tragic conditions of hunger and poverty children around the world endure during a trip to Kenya. In 2007 she was chosen as a WFP Ambassador Against Hunger, and began advocating for school feeding programs. There are more than 100 million school-aged children who don't get enough to eat. Each year the UN's World Food Programme feeds nearly 20 million children in 71 countries through school feeding programs. WFP's Executive Director was excited about their new Ambassador: “Her passion and commitment to changing the world for the better – and of course the respect and admiration she commands – will make her a wonderful champion for school feeding.”
