Aristide Briand was a French politician, serving often as premier, foreign minister or cabinet minister, and Prime Minister 6 different times.and the leading orator of his time. He was adamently opposed to war, but ironically was forced to lead his nation for 18 months during World War I. In 1930 he presented a plan to the League of Nations for a European Union. Aristide Briand received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1926.
